PRP to fight it out alone in next polls

KOVUR (NELLORE): Emboldened by the response to his Praja Ankita Sabha

meetings in various parts of the state, Chiranjeevi has asserted that
his Prajarajyam
Party would go it alone in the coming elections as the party has `gained' enough confidence in the hearts of the public.

The PRP chief said though the TRS has not come forward for an alliance, the party is ready to face the ballot. "The people have reposed faith and high confidence on us. We don't have to depend on others and wait for alliances," he said.

Talking to newspersons here on Tuesday, Chiranjeevi said he is confident that the PRP would reap a rich haul in Telangana region despite TRS' presence. He however acknowledged that they would face some difficulty if a common party symbol was not allotted by the Election Commission of India.

The PRP chief said his government would take constructive measures to curb corrupt practices in the administration. "We have carefully considered and announced the Rs 100 package for the have-nots in the state. We will plan more welfare measures to support the people under below poverty line," he said.

The actor-turned-politician said his government would ban the belt shops and take back excess lands allotted for Special Economic Zones in the state. Lambasting the YSR government for failing to check the rising prices of essential commodities, he pooh-poohed the CM's welfare agenda for the poor.

Chiranjeevi alleged that some parties have deputed `coverts' to keep tabs and get information from his party. The PRP chief, on the third day of his tour to the district, received huge turnout of public at Kovur, Buchireddypalem, Sangam and Athmakur mandals. He would start his tour in Prakasam district on Wednesday.
